What the 26401TI super clone is
The Audemars Piguet 26401TI is a Royal Oak Offshore chronograph in a 44 mm titanium case. "Super clone" is a seller term for a replica built to match the outside of that watch and to hide the movement inside. Audemars Piguet does not make it. The genuine reference is 26401TI.OO.A027CA.01. Other suffixes cover dial and strap variants.

What changes in a replica
Most 26401TI replicas do not use a copy of calibre 3126/3840. They use a modified Asian Valjoux 7750, a 30 mm automatic chronograph. The 7750 carries counters at 12, 6 and 9. The genuine dial also places counters at those three spots, but the functions differ. Makers add gears to move the 30-minute counter from 12 to 6 and the running seconds from 9 to 12. Those gears add drag and are a common failure point.

A smaller group of replicas uses a hand-wound or quartz movement. Quartz cannot copy the 8-beat sweep of the genuine balance. A second hand that jumps once per second rules the watch out.

Titanium versus steel
Titanium has a density near 4.5 g/cm3. Stainless steel sits near 7.9 g/cm3. A titanium 26401TI on a rubber strap weighs far less than a steel copy of the same size. Many listings claim titanium and ship 316L or 904L steel. Steel feels cooler at first touch and holds a different tone under light.

Genuine 26401TI examples trade in the five-figure range on the secondary market. Replica listings run from about $300 to $1,200, set by movement, case metal and finishing. A price under that range points to a quartz or low-jewel automatic build. A price above it does not prove quality.
Checks that work
- Subdial motion: the running seconds should sweep at 8 beats per second, not 1 or 6.
- Caseback: check engraving depth, reference, serial and "Swiss Made" placement.
- Weight: compare against a titanium watch of similar size.
- Strap: the genuine watch uses a titanium pin buckle with the AP monogram. Steel buckles appear on copies.
- Chronograph reset: the genuine hand snaps back to zero. A 7750-based copy drifts.
