The 30-second check
Flip the watch over and watch the tourbillon at 6 o'clock for a full minute. On a real Breguet Classique Tourbillon 7787, the carriage makes one complete rotation in exactly 60 seconds. The cage is finely finished: polished arms, chamfered edges, a light carriage. Most fakes at this level either run a fake tourbillon (an open balance wheel that never rotates) or spin at some random rate. If it does not do a clean minute, stop there.
Breguet Tourbillon 7787 Replica Movement Guide
The dial is engine-turned, not stamped
Breguet cuts its guilloché on a rose engine, so the lines are crisp and spaced the same across the whole dial. Replica dials are stamped, and the pattern goes soft toward the center. You can see the ridges flatten out. Run a fingernail across the surface. A real one has a consistent bite; a fake feels like printed plastic. The secret signature, etched light into the guilloché near 12 o'clock, is usually missing on fakes, or stamped so hard you can read it from across the room.
Hands and numerals
Breguet hands are blued steel with hollowed-out pomme tips. The bluing is even, and the tips are open. Fakes are painted or chemically darkened, so they look flat and the moon-shaped tip is solid. The Roman numerals should be sharp with no ink bleed, and the small seconds hand on the tourbillon cage should line up with the printed track. The caseband tells you a lot too: Breguet's grain d'orge fluting is fine and parallel. Replica fluting is coarse, and plating fills the gaps between the ridges.
Case, hallmarks, and weight
The 7787 is a 39mm solid gold case. Gold has a density you can feel. A steel case with gold plating feels light and rings differently when you tap it. Check the hallmarks: Swiss gold carries the Swiss precious-metal hallmark plus a 750 stamp. French-market pieces carry the eagle's head. These are struck, not lasered, so they have depth. On fakes the hallmark is often missing, the wrong shape, or so faint you need a loupe. Look at the lugs, too. Breguet welds them to the case and uses polished screws. Cast lugs with fake screw heads are a common shortcut.

Caseback and movement
Through the sapphire back you should see Breguet finishing: Côtes de Genève stripes on the bridges, perlage on the mainplate, blued screws, polished bevels. The engraving is deep and crisp, with "Breguet," the calibre, the reference, and the serial. On fakes the engraving is shallow and lasered, and the stripes look printed. The reference on the back must match the papers. Breguet metal codes are simple: BR for rose gold, BB for white gold, BA for yellow gold. A wrong code, a missing serial, or a serial that Breguet cannot confirm is a hard no.
Price and paperwork
The 7787 sells in the six-figure range, and used examples still carry real money. If someone offers one for a few thousand dollars, it is not real. No version of this watch costs that. Real ones come with the Breguet box, the certificate, and often service records. Have the serial checked with Breguet or an authorized dealer. If the seller will not let a watchmaker open it, that is your answer.
