Start With The Movement, Not The Photo
Caliber 863 is an Omega manual-wind chronograph. It is the rhodium-plated version of caliber 861. Omega put it in Speedmaster Professional models with a sapphire display back. Production ran from 1989 to 1997. The spec sheet reads: 17 jewels, 21,600 vibrations per hour, 48-hour power reserve, cam switching, no date. Caliber 1861 replaced it in 1997.

Price Bands In USD
Replica Speedmaster listings fall into three bands.
replica speedmaster cal 863 for sale
- $60 to $120: quartz movement, mineral glass, frozen subdials, 40 mm case.
- $150 to $350: Seagull ST19 or ST1901 mechanical chronograph, sapphire crystal, decorated bridges. Most listings that say "cal 863" sit here.
- $400 to $900: ST19 with engraved bridges, 39.7 mm case, step dial, correct pusher shape. Stock is thin.
A real Speedmaster Professional with cal 863 sells for $3,000 to $6,000 USD on the secondary market. Anything under $500 is a copy of the watch, not the movement.
Parameters To Verify
- Subdial layout: three counters at 3, 6 and 9. A 12-hour counter at 6 is a mismatch on some replicas.
- Case size: 42 mm on the 3572.50 and 3592.50. Many replicas measure 39.7 mm.
- Crystal: ref 3572.50 has hesalite front, sapphire back. Ref 3592.50 has sapphire front and back.
- Movement photo: request one with the case back removed. A real 863 shows a rhodium finish and a cam, not a column wheel.
- Subdial spacing: ST19 spacing differs from 861 and 863 spacing. Ask for calipers over the subdial centers.
Pitfalls
- Bridge engraving is not a movement. Sellers stamp "863" on a plate that covers a stock ST19.
- Jewel count: 17 on the 863, 21 on the ST19. A listing that quotes both numbers is a template.
- Photos of a real Omega. Reverse image search the dial photo.
- Water resistance claims above 50 m with no gasket photo. Skip them.
- "Swiss made" text on a $200 chronograph. No Swiss movement at that price.
Before You Pay
Ask for the reference number the replica copies, the movement name, the case diameter in millimeters, and a photo of the case back off. Sellers who answer with a photo and a number are worth the money. Sellers who answer with adjectives are not.
Note: no replica holds collector value. Resale on a $300 replica runs near zero.
